Google Forms Alternative — staticq vs Google Forms

What they are

Google Forms is a free survey and form builder. staticq is a form backend service for custom websites. They solve different problems, but people often reach for Google Forms because it’s free and familiar — then hit its limitations when they want forms on their own site.

Google Forms gives you a hosted form with Google’s interface. staticq gives you an endpoint that accepts submissions from your own HTML form, keeping your design and branding intact.

What staticq does differently

Your design, not Google’s. staticq processes submissions from your HTML form. You write the markup, style it however you want, and point the action attribute at your staticq endpoint. The form looks like your site because it is your site. Google Forms forces you into their UI or an awkward iframe embed.

Webhooks without workarounds. With staticq, you configure a webhook URL and submissions get forwarded there automatically. With Google Forms, you need to write a Google Apps Script, set up triggers, and manage execution quotas. For developers wiring forms into other systems, this matters.

Custom redirects. After submission, staticq redirects users to any URL you choose — a thank-you page on your site, a download link, or another step in your funnel. Google Forms shows its own confirmation screen.

Where Google Forms is ahead. Google Forms is free with unlimited submissions. It has built-in conditional logic, file uploads, quiz scoring, and integrates deeply with Google Workspace. If you need a survey tool, quiz builder, or internal data collection form and don’t care about design customization, Google Forms is hard to beat on value.
